Coming this fall to the Reynoldstown neighborhood is Con Leche, a coffee bar offering “affordable specialty coffee” along with limited baked goods on-the-go, according to a press release Tuesday. The quaint 400-square-foot space is expected to open early October, at 181 Flat Shoals Avenue Southeast, Unit 1, and offer a simple menu including drip coffee, cold brew, cappuccinos, and lattes.

The specialty café is partnering with Decatur-based Radio Rosters to serve locally-roasted coffee, and with Root Baking Co. to provide baked goods and toast options. Drip and iced coffees will be $2.50, and espresso-based milk drinks will be $3.50, including lattes.

Con Leche will offer a membership program, the “first of its kind” in Atlanta, which will include unlimited drip and iced coffee, and a $1 discount on all espresso drinks for $10 a week. The membership will be piloted with 100 members and refined prior to expanding further. Con Leche is also in the development phase of its digital ordering experience, which will allow guests to pre-order items, saving them time and adhering to social distancing.

“Coffee is something that a number of us drink daily, so I wanted to make sure that Con Leche fits the way we consume it,” Ivan Romero, Con Leche’s founder, said in the release. “We want to provide a high-quality coffee, quickly and affordably, something you can and want to do every day. There are incredibly talented people in Atlanta roasting coffee and baking bread, so we wanted to make sure to partner with those in our community who make us excited to call it home. Our goal is to improve how people interact with each other, food, and the physical world. Con Leche is our first stab at that.”

Romero immigrated to the United States as a political refugee from Colombia at nine years old, and while he has not returned to his home country since, he uses coffee as the main vehicle to keep him in touch with his roots. Professionally, Romero helped UberEats scale local and national operations before transitioning into a role where he helped global operations teams get representation in the product development cycle. Romero also spent time helping Fortune 500 Companies source products and services, and start-ups establish strategy and tech-enabled processes. His background brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in start-ups, digital products and business strategy, all tied in to Con Leche’s business model.

Con Leche has enlisted architect Tim Nichols of NO Architecture to design the space, and the brand and associated assets have been developed by Dallas Taylor who serves as Con Leche’s Creative Director.

Con Leche is currently in the development phase and broke ground in mid-July.

    1. I gave up coffee years ago– thankfully.
When I drank it, I made it at home.
So I don’t understand paying $2.50 for a cup. But obviously many people are willing to pay that.
Therefor, I agree with you that a membership is great incentive– but it sounds like Ivan Romero is a pretty sharp guy.
      Wishing Con Leche much success!
