“We are thrilled to announce the opening of a new Pure Green in town, serving up delicious and nutritious superfood options for the health-conscious community,” says Patel.
Founded in 2014 by fitness professional Ross Franklin, Pure Green operates according to one simple mission, “[building] healthier communities around the globe by connecting people with superfoods.”
To realize this goal, the company raised a whopping $1 million through its “equity crowdfunding” campaign back in 2020, which allows investors to contribute as little as $100.
At the time, Franklin said in a statement, “Equity crowdfunding was a better fit for us than institutional capital. It’s much more in alignment with our mission. We liked the idea of raising money from the people.”
Incidentally, that campaign allowed Pure Green not only to say afloat during the darkest days of the pandemic but also buoyed its franchise growth, culminating in roughly two dozen stores currently operating across the country, with another 400 in development as of 2021.
