The Midtown Development Review Committee plans to discuss the project at their Aug. 13, 2024, meeting.

The 22-story development called “Hub Cypress” would include 265 units with a total of 1,194 bedrooms and 161 parking spaces. The ground floor would include a coffee shop, a fitness center and a spa, according to the Midtown DRC meeting agenda.

It would be located at the corner of 7th and Cypress streets, next to the Historic Academy of Medicine building. The site, currently a parking lot, is across the street from the Ecco restaurant.

Hub Cypress comes from Core Spaces, a Chicago-based real estate development and property management company. Core Spaces is also the team behind Hub at Atlanta, located at 960 Spring Street, and an upcoming residential building in Athens at 155 Mitchell Street.

The Midtown project originally called for 295 units. The ground-floor commercial space is also a new addition.
