According to the restaurant website, it will be located at 790 Cobb Place Boulevard NW, near Town Center at Cobb. It was announced last year that the Illinois-based company had an eye on beefing up its portfolio by entering the metro Atlanta market.
The Portillo’s menu includes Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, burgers and more along with sides like crinkle-cut fries and onion rings. Sweet treats like shakes and cakes round out the offerings.
Dick Portillo and his wife, Sharon, started the concept in 1963 as a hot dog stand in Villa Park, Illinois, called The Dog House. There are now more than 80 locations across the U.S., and they are all corporate-owned; according to the company, they do not franchise and have no plans to franchise.
Portillo’s is expected to open in Kennesaw in 2025. The restaurant will be 6,250 square feet and feature indoor and outdoor seating, a double drive-thru, and grab-and-go retail options. Tex-Mex restaurant On The Border was formerly located at the property.
“Get ready to bite into something delicious because we’re bringing you the Portillo’s flavor you’ve been craving,” the company said.
