Dollar General is building a new storefront franchise nationwide called Popshelf, which will focus on a fun, affordable, and stress-free shopping experience. Customers will be able to find on-trend seasonal and home décor, health and beauty must-haves, home cleaning supplies, party goods, entertaining needs, and much more — with approximately 95 percent of items being less than $5.

According to a press release obtained by What Now Atlanta (WNA), the first Popshelfs were announced for a Fall Nashville opening, in the Hendersonville and Clarksville neighborhoods. 30 more locations have since been announced, including 1772-1926 Jonesboro Rd in McDonough, all of which are slated to open by the end of 2021. Another Georgia location, Austell, is also listed to open in January, according to a Facebook announcement.
“We are excited to introduce Popshelf from a position of strength, further highlighting our innovative spirit and building on our proven track record of store format innovation,” said Todd Vasos, Dollar General’s CEO. “We have leveraged robust consumer insights to create a unique store that we believe will resonate with new customers, while providing Dollar General with even more opportunities for growth in the years ahead.”
Each Popshelf will be approximately 9,000 square feet and will be focused on delivering a combination of continually-refreshed merchandise, seasonal specials, and limited-time items while also surpassing price and value expectations. WNA reached out to Vasos for further comment but has yet to respond.
