Local art supply store secures lease at Old Fourth Ward redevelopment.
Jamestown Properties in a press release Thursday announced Binders Art Supplies & Frames will be joining Ponce City Market in fall 2014.
The deal for the family-run arts retailer, led by Jamestown Realty’s Kristen Morris, was executed on Friday, June 14.
“Ponce City Market is intended to be a community destination, and a ‘main street’ that connects Atlanta’s eastern neighborhoods with the rest of the metro area,” said Michael Phillips, chief operating officer of Jamestown, the real estate investment firm behind the redevelopment.
“We are committed to creating an exciting, urban and culturally connected experience at Ponce City Market. Binders perfectly suits that commitment, allowing the breadth of the community – from fine artists to families – access to tools that allow them to express themselves creatively.”
Atlanta-based Binders features galleries, weekly creative classes, workshops and demonstrations open to the public. Binders also serves the Atlanta community through involvement in local art organizations and school programs.
“Ponce City Market promises to become one of the cultural epicenters of Atlanta, and we are thrilled to be a part of it,” Howard Krinsky, president-owner of Binders, said in the release.
“Each of our stores has its own personality and contributes to the surrounding neighborhood in various ways. Jamestown’s acumen for new urban redevelopment at Ponce City Market will further enhance our relationship with the local art community.”
Binders will occupy approximately 10,000 square feet in the same building as the current Dancing Goats Coffee Bar’s temporary space and future location of the Suzuki School.
Binders’ two other locations include Buckhead Atlanta and Charlotte, N.C.
