The privately held real estate investment, development and management firm, Wednesday filed several permit applications with City of Atlanta to begin the renovation and conversion process.

The applications were submitted separately for each floor of guest rooms indicating the hotel will remain open during the conversion process, while the building is renovated one floor at a time.

AWH first acquired the 25-story property in July 2014 when it immediately rebranded the space into the Crowne Plaza brand.

By the end of the renovation, the 501-room hotel will consist of a 360-room Crowne Plaza hotel and a 102-room Staybridge Suites, reducing its amount of rooms to accommodate the renovation plan including 31,000 square feet of meeting space, three food and beverage options and two lobbies on the ground floor.

The renovations will include complete guest room, guest bath and guest corridor transformations, as well as a completely new public space layout and interior design package.

The hotels are operated by Spire Hospitality under a franchise agreement with IHG, according to a press release at the time of the acquisition.
