Floral design studio and art exhibition Pinker Times has expanded from its original pop-up location — which opened in August 2020 — to a larger space in Buckhead Village, at 247 Buckhead Ave NE. Originally set to be open only through fall 2020, the newly expanded pop-up will now operate until March 2021, according to a press release Tuesday. Pinker Times features two floral art installations, bouquets and arrangements for purchase, and a “choose-your-own flower bar.” Founder and Artist Skye Lin is now also offering bespoke floral arranging workshops.
Pinker Times’ new 1,200-square-foot space is flanked by a “Forever Flower Bar,” a dried flower wall where guests can choose by the stem. In addition, Pinker Times houses two of Skye’s original installations: a floating arrangement styled with dried stems and a second, newer exhibition featuring a field of pink grasses embodying Lin’s personal representation of “’pinker times,’ — a happy time, place or feeling that is cherished.”
Skye has also introduced a new workshop series inviting guests to follow along as she guides how-to sessions for arranging seasonal dried stems, preserved florals, and wildflowers. The beginner-friendly workshops will take place throughout the winter, and the ticket price includes a choice of floral materials, a vessel, and three professional photographs.
“With a background in fine art and art direction, founder Skye Lin started sharing her love for flower arrangements with friends and neighbors during the first weeks of quarantine this year,” according to the release. “Pinker Times aims to serve as a catalyst for connection and reconnection during these times.”
Born in China and raised in Vietnam, Lin attended SCAD Atlanta and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art, Installation Art and Sculpture degree. She took part in Art Basel 2017 and has multiple installations in retail stores in Ho Chi Minh City.
