Pinewood Forest, the 235-acre residential and mixed-use development adjacent Pinewood Atlanta Studios, Thursday in a press release announced plans to develop its own “luxury” cinema.
The yet-to-be-named theatre-centric project is expected to break ground mid-2019 and projected to open in 2020.
It is a partnership between real estate firm Pace Lynch Corporation, Spotlight Theatres, and Alerion Services.
The theatre will host blockbuster films, such as those produced at the adjacent Pinewood Atlanta Studios, as well as a variety of other film and video content, live performances, broadcasted sports and entertainment events, corporate events and more.
BoggsVickers and THW Design, the architect team, plans to build a cinema featuring eight auditoriums with 800 “VIP lounge chair” seats, as well as restaurant and bar amenities.
The theatre will be the “first state-of-the-art cinema facility of its kind in south metro Atlanta.”
While additional details will be released in the months ahead, all auditoriums will feature the latest Immersive Digital Audio complementing all digital 4k projection.
“Patrons will experience VIP luxury seating that reclines with wide spacing between rows for extra legroom and an unobstructed view of the wall-to-wall screens,” according to the release.
“Amenities like online advanced ticketing, will-call, reserved seating, an expanded concession menu and the option to choose a full dining experience will set this location apart from any other movie-going experience south of Atlanta.”

Will the home owners of Pinewood Forest want to have large numbers of people coming from everywhere to see movies in their “backyard”? You may very well create traffic jams within a neighborhood that caters to “the creatives” and “story-tellers” who thought they were getting a tranquil place to live and work.
It’s more likely the opposite. Residents choosing this lifestyle prefer a walkable, urban place with access to great restaurants, coffee, and entertainment like the theaters – not necessarily n their backyard but nearby like in this community’s plan. It also looks like this is a smaller theater of 8 screens, not a 15 screen megaplex. This will be amazing!
