Home furnishings and decor retailer to open at Buckhead Place.

Pier 1 Imports, a home furnishings and decor retailer, is adding another Atlanta location.

The Fort Worth, Texas based retailer is opening a 11,648-square-foot store in Buckhead, according to a permit filed with the City of Atlanta Thursday.

The home furnishings and decor retailer will open at Buckhead Place, a two-level urban-designed retail project, located at the intersection of Peachtree and Piedmont Roads. Tenants at Buckhead Place include Marshall’s and LA Fitness.

Pier 1 Imports will spend $601,577.00 in construction costs building-out Suite C of the shopping center.

The new Buckhead location will open in late fall or early winter 2011, according to Jennifer L. Engstrand, company spokeswoman.

Atlantan’s interested in working at the new Buckhead location can check www.pier1.com as the store’s opening date approaches, Engstrand told What Now Atlanta in an email.

“We typically hire 12-15 associates, which are a mix of full-time and part-time positions.  That can fluctuate at any given time, depending on the seasonality of the business,” Engstrand said.  “Information will be posted on www.pier1.com as we get closer to the store opening.”

Pier 1 Imports’ new Buckhead  location will be the home furnishings and decor retailer’s fifth location inside of the I-285 perimeter.  Pier 1 Imports has locations on Piedmont Road, Lenox Road, North Druid Hills Road and Cobb Parkway, according to their website.

  1. So this means the store across from Lenox is shutting down I suppose? Also, does the list of ITP locations include the one at Ansley Mall?

    1. hi jonc — the ansley mall location is listed above as the “piedmont road” store and we have no intel as to whether or not any currently opened locations will close.

  2. Which space are they taking? It was my understanding LA Fitness was expanding into the old Tower Records space (may just be a rumor). Thanks for the insight!

  3. Landlord is going to pay all of that build-out cost. The headline is misleading that Pier 1 is going to make such a big investment in our humble city.

  4. caleb, whats the latest w/ LA fitness renovation? is it still on track? doesn’t seem to be moving…

  5. I remember when there was a Pier One in Atlanic Station.

I also remember when they had less than $200 in sales for the ENTIRE DAY.

    on many many occassions…

    enough said…..

  6. According to the press release, LA fitness will almost double its size into the record store, adding pool, racquetball, and basketball. Pier 1 will go in the Kitchenaide space beside Marshalls
