Favorite Event for New Year’s is Back

Atlanta’s Peach Drop Festival is making a return this year. What once used to be a yearly event, became sporadic in the past few years. Atlanta is excited to have one of its favorite events of the holiday season be back.

Peach Drop festival was first conducted in 1989. Eventually, it became the prime event among all of Atlanta’s New Year celebrations. The peach was dropped from the tower every year until 2017, at the Underground. In 2018, it was dropped at Woodruff Park and returned to the original venue in 2019.

However, from 2020 to 2022, the event was canceled citing various reasons, the major one being the Pandemic. In 2023, the event was conducted to mark the New Year. Again, for the new year 2024, the event was canceled due to the city’s funding priorities. This year, Mayor Andre Dickens has brought back the beloved Atlantan tradition.

Peach drop has been quite a popular event with thousands gathering to watch the peach dropping every new year.
