“The rumors are true,” Gianoulidis wrote. “The off-leash dog park will be no more once the park space reopens after renovations.”

Gianoulidis and the ParkGrounds team are in the process of “regrading, mulching, putting down slate, getting some new tables and chairs, putting up shade sails and more string lights,” with plans to convert the dog park into a beer garden and outdoor dining space.

“We will also be hosting a food truck on weekend evenings at one end of the park,” Gianoulidis wrote. “We will have draft beer available once the setup is complete and also revise the breakfast and sandwich menu, bringing on some wraps a la Kafenio Avondale and The Greek Pizzeria and Gyros.”

The dog park portion of ParkGrounds is closed for renovations as of Monday, April 25, 2022, but its current patio and indoor dining are open for business. Gianoulidis told What Now Atlanta in an email Monday “the park should be done within a couple of weeks.”

“We look forward to serving the community and becoming a place where the neighborhood can gather for coffee, breakfast, beer, booze, and sandwiches in a clean and comfortable setting under that beautiful tree in the park,” Gianoulidis wrote. “We want this to be a place where everyone can enjoy themselves, while of course buying many libations and all the foods!”

Gianoulidis said that pets are still welcome — on a leash — so as long as pet owners follow some house rules. “…We welcome dogs on leash to sit at your table, continuously supervised and not causing a disruption. Dog owners will be expected to immediately stop their dogs from digging or damaging any furniture or fixtures. They will be expected to also immediately pick up dogs’ accidents. Please do not expect to use the park as a poop way station for your pet-You will be asked to leave and not return. If dog owners can not meet these expectations, they will be asked to leave immediately.”
