It looks like Buckhead’s The Peach shopping center is due for a pizza delivery. Papa John’s pizza chain has filed for permits at the mall, at 2900 Peachtree Road, next to Publix.

A Papa John’s representative was not immediately available for comment, and we don’t know when the pizza joint will open. But there’s not a whole lot of fast-casual pizza competition in the area — the nearest pizza places include S & J’s Woodfired Pizza at the Peachtree Farmers Market and Fellini’s Pizza — so it’s looking like Papa John’s could become a go-to for hungry shoppers craving a slice.

Call it nostalgia, but there’s something extremely special about a Papa John’s slice dipped in gooey garlic sauce. We don’t care how big of a pizza snob you are (New York City transplants included), if the smell of a Papa John’s pie doesn’t conjure memories of birthday pool parties and class field trips, well, what can we say? You’re missing out.
