Palomar, Pacci & AltoRex signage to disappear March 25 as property gets re-branded as Marriott Renaissance

Pacci Ristorante in Midtown will reopen as R Restaurant and Lounge on March 25, according to a highly placed Marriott insider.

Located in the former 21-story Hotel Palomar Atlanta Midtown, a boutique hotel at 866 West Peachtree street, our Marriott insider said the name change to R Restaurant and Lounge is “temporary.”

Creative, huh?

Marriott International was hired by the Thayer Lodging group earlier this year to replace Kimpton Hotels & Restaurant Group. Marriott will re-brand and manage the property as a Renaissance Hotel (story here).

“The switch on Palomar’s conversion will happen on Friday, March 25 at 12:01 a.m.,” said our Marriott Insider. “The Palomar, Pacci and AltroRex’s names will disappear.”

The hotel will operate as a Renaissance from that date moving forward, according to our insider who added, “minimal renovations” were made to the property.

“Hotel Palomar is already positioned to fit the Renaissance brand image.”

AltroRex, the hotel’s rooftop lounge, has yet to be renamed.

  1. Yikes, I’m going to set the bar really low on this one & hope that someone behind the scenes actually knows what they’re doing. I still don’t understand why they’re doing this…

  2. Are they keeping the same staff and Kiera (chef)?

I am guessing that Kimpton “owns” Pacci/AltoRex name, etc. and didn’t want their name on a Marriott property.

Not good to see a Kimpton property leave Atlanta to be replaced with a Marriott…..

    1. hi runtheriver– it’s too early to say. the info we’ve already provided is proprietary and has not been shared with the public. when specific details are available, we’ll post those! stay tuned~
