Metropark to reopen as Original Penguin
Original Penguin by Munsingwear is opening at Lenox Square Mall, according to Jason Smith, vice president of retail for the clothing store.
Original Penguin will take space formerly occupied by the now shuttered Metropark which closed in May after Metropark USA Inc. filed bankruptcy.
Smith told What Now Atlanta on a trip to the mall Wednesday shoppers should expect an opening mid July to early August.
Original Penguin hadn’t planned on taking over the 2,700-square-foot retail space, according to Smith.
“This kind of came up so we took the opportunity to open our first Atlanta store,” Smith said.
The Lenox Square Mall location will be the clothing retailer’s eighth “full price store” in North America. Opening other Atlanta locations is not a “long-term strategy,” he said.
The clothing sold will be “vintage inspired.”

Is that the best Lenox can do? Very disappointing.
I think Original Penguin Would be better in the current Lacoste spot once they move into their new location. Plus it would produce alot more traffic.
Now that Original Penguin has its own store, it looks like Drew Lewis may go out of business…
