On The Border Mexican Grill and Cantina to Reopen in Alpharetta With Fresh New Look

Current plans to “revamp” On the Border’s branding will lead into phase 2, an all-out expansion of new ideas throughout Atlanta

On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina was “born and raised in Texas,” yet has locations all over the world including 13 in South Korea. Due to the threat of COVID, the restaurant chain was forced to close all of its 100-plus locations in March, Chief Real Estate Officer Mike Wood confirmed with What Now Atlanta (WNA). On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina’s location at 10575 Davis Dr in Alpharetta is slated to reopen sometime in mid-January with a notably new look.

According to Wood, On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina’s first step in what might be a total revamp on the brand, in general, is to change things up a bit in Alpharetta. The restaurant is starting out small, but “at the same time, we’re planning future prototypes, architectural elements, colors, and branding,” Wood told WNA on Thursday. “We’re slowly repairing stores. There are some that are still closed.”

It’s important for Wood and his crew to stick to that location since he feels there’s a lot of visibility in that area and business has been good. These customers are going to be the first to see the restaurant’s change in branding.

“Phase two would be to expand into the rest of the Atlanta market and try out these new test features if all goes well,” he said. “Atlanta is a big market for us.” Wood, who currently lives in Atlanta, will stand before the Alpharetta Design Review Board on Nov. 20 to present On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina’s case.
