New York’s "chicken-and-rice cart" The Halal Guys is set to open its first brick-and-mortar location in Chamblee, Sat., Jan. 28, the restaurant Friday announced in a press release.

Starting at 11 a.m. guests of The Halal Guys, at 4929 Buford Hwy, can get a fix of beef gyro sandwiches, chicken-and-rice platters and "secret" white sauce.

“After a longer than expected construction process, I’m excited to finally open our red and yellow doors to the public," Moynul Chowdhury, operating franchisee of the Chamblee location, said in the press release.

“It’s been amazing to see and hear the excitement from so many people—both in person and on our social media channels—as soon as our signs and signature colors went up on the corner of Clairmont Rd. and Buford Highway. We couldn’t have picked a more eclectic part of town to open our first location—-it fits us perfectly.”

On Jan. 28, the first 50 guests will receive a free entree platter and fountain drink and the next 200 will receive a Halal Guys t-shirt.

On opening day, diners can also enjoy live entertainment from local artists and a raffle featuring various prizes from The Halal Guys and other partners supporting the restaurant’s opening.
