The Brookhaven health food market in January 2020 will open in space occupied by Rainbow Natural Foods for 42 years.
Rainbow’s essence will live on in the new Nuts ‘n Berries, according to Co-Owner Mari Geier.
“We’re working with the folks at Rainbow to keep the spirit of their community store alive,” Geier in a telephone interview Monday told What Now Atlanta.
“Community is our focus.”
Geier and Co-Owner Kevin Parker have already gutted the 5,600-square-foot Rainbow space.
On Wednesday they will submit a permit application to begin construction on the space’s new 1,500-square-foot kitchen, including a dedicated gluten-free bakery created in partnership with Alpharetta-based 2B Whole.
“Our team is bringing the space up to code and in a sense modernizing the Rainbow concept,” Geier said.
Nuts ‘n Berries will keep many of Rainbow’s cherished offerings like its hot bar with vegan options while expanding on the former owners’ mission.
New additions will include locally-sourced and organic produce at “competitive pricing.”
“We’re part of a 250-store co-op so we are able to get competitive pricing and operate like we have the buying power of Whole Foods or Sprouts,” Geier said.
“The community can shop at Nuts ‘n Berries for produce without it hurting their pocketbooks.”
There will also be organic beer and wine and a large selection of hemp-derived CBD products.
Monthly events will be held in-store to further the company’s education mission.
The events will cover health-centric topics like pesticide-free food and beverage, and all-things CBD.
