Not As Famous Cookie Company Snags Second Brick-And-Mortar Space Ahead of Opening First

Bakery has a Smyrna location -- the first physical space for the company -- opening up next month with a second debuting in Marietta shortly thereafter.

Not As Famous Cookie Company started from a humble food truck but already has two solid brick-and-mortar locations on the way. What Now Atlanta previously covered the company’s soon to open Smyrna storefront, at 2420 Atlanta Road SE, Suite 300, which has a planned debut of sometime in November. And now, even ahead of opening in Smyrna, Owner Ashley R. Carlton has secured space at 800 Whitlock Ave. in the Burnt Hickory Village Shopping Center in Marietta for the bakery.

“It kind of worked out for us for opening up in this location,” Carlton said. He has apparently been looking at Burnt Hickory for some time now, but the small 900-square-foot unit Carlton wanted wasn’t available until recently. The unfortunate threat of COVID-19 provided a strange silver-lining for Carlton, emptying the space out and allowing for Not As Famous Cookie Company to take over.

Although opening two new brick-and-mortars simultaneously can seem daunting, Carlton is already planning new locations as other centers around the metro area are sending their interest for the bakery — but the plan is to make sure these spots are working perfectly before branching out into new locations. “The most exciting thing is that we’re in the process of making it happen,” Carlton said. “This was the goal. It’s always been my dream to have a bakery.”

Not As Famous Cookie Company is very well known for its cookie sandwiches. These sweet treats — based on Carlton’s father’s own recipes that date back 35 years — have been enjoyed by many, during huge events and massive local film sets, such as ‘Avengers’ and ‘Black Panther’ — as evident from the website’s celebrity wall.

Not As Famous Cookie Company gained local popularity from its food truck over the last 5 years. Currently, the food truck is available to rent for events, and its Burnt Hickory Village Shopping Center location should be ready for them in November or December, pending renovations.
