It’s unclear exactly how much of the New York concept will make its way to Atlanta, as a representative of the company had not returned a request for comment by press time. Nevertheless, records do indicate that the business was filed under the 4West ATL moniker and that alterations call for a new restaurant.
According to 4West’s website, the brand was born during the “height of the pandemic,” when founders Troy Berry and Brian Clark, “wanted to create a black-owned LGBTQ+ bar/lounge and started the 4West concept in their apartment.” The idea proved wildly successful, and by 2021, they had launched their first permanent space in New York.
Today, 4West Lounge brings together an eclectic mix of creatives, corporate managers, and entrepreneurs, and prides itself on being “a home for everyone…where they can come together and have their social and entertainment needs met in an environment that is welcoming to all regardless of skin color or orientation.”
Aside from its full bar, 4West Lounge also offers a food program that includes wings, catfish bites and a catfish sandwich, salt n’ pepper shrimp, a burger, and various sides such as collard greens, sweet potato fries, and mac n cheese.
4West Lounge will join a to-go spot at 845 Flat Shoals Ave SE from Chef Lance Gummere dubbed Mercer Street Meals that What Now Atlanta first reported on in September 2022.
