Ackerman & Co. and Novare Group are teaming up to develop a two-building retail project in Sugar Hill.
The project will be developed on a 4-acre site on Hillcrest Drive, featuring buildings of 6,035 square feet and 7,240 square feet. It is adjacent to Novare Group’s new 306-unit Conclave Sugar Hill multifamily community.
Senior Vice Presidents of Ackerman Retail Kelly Wilson and Suzanne Shank will spearhead leasing efforts for the development.
According to an announcement, Ackerman Retail will target homegrown and regional restaurants, fast-casual eateries, boutiques and shops for the two buildings. Spaces start at 1,260 square feet.
“We have a long-standing relationship with Novare Group, and this is an exciting opportunity for us to partner with them on this high-quality project adjacent to the City of Sugar Hill’s master-planned downtown,” Ackerman Retail President Leo Wiener said in a statement. “The city has created a vibrant live, work, play district, and we’re looking forward to adding a great mix of restaurants and retail to complement the city’s downtown amenities.”
The Sugar Hill Greenway will be integrated into the mixed-use site, which will also connect to downtown via a pedestrian bridge that will span Highway 20 from Stanley Street. Two acres next to the retail buildings will be set aside for a public park.
“Alongside the city’s thriving downtown district, the retail and residences in our project will enhance Sugar Hill’s growing appeal as a place to live and visit,” Novare Group President Jim Borders said.
