When The Rusty Nail closed in August 2022, after four decades of serving good times and cold beer to its loyal Sandy Springs clientele, it left a hole in the local social scene. But the iconic 1900-square-foot building, with its red roof, breezy patio seating almost 100 people, and plenty of parking, wouldn’t stay vacant for long.

Valid Khasimi, CEO and founder of Moustache Hookah Bar, a Persian kitchen and dance club less than a mile away on Roswell Road, has purchased the storied dive bar and is making plans.

Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group, Inc. represented the previous owners in the transaction.

“I just bought it two days ago, I still need to take a look around inside and see what we can do,” Khasimi told What Now Atlanta. “We’re thinking about a cigar lounge and wine bar. Maybe we’ll serve Persian cuisine, which we’ve mastered, but I’ve also been thinking about steaks and Italian food. We don’t know yet.”

He promised to get back to us with details as they are confirmed.
