Playa Bowls is in the works at Powers Ferry Square on Roswell Road. The shop will be located between the Aillea cosmetics store and the facial studio Clean Your Dirty Face. The nearly 1,200-square-foot space was previously occupied by PhatYuca.
Playa Bowls was founded in New Jersey in 2014. The menu includes açaí, pitaya, mango, green and coconut bowls, as well as oatmeal, juices, smoothies and cold brew.
There are more than 200 locations of the fast-casual concept across the U.S., including eight in Georgia. Playa Bowls has an existing location in Atlanta along the BeltLine, as well as outposts in Sandy Springs, Alpharetta, Chamblee, Peachtree Corners, Sugar Hill and Athens.
Private equity firm Sycamore Partners recently purchased the franchise.
The upcoming Atlanta location comes from franchisees Michael and Jennifer O’Donnell. It was announced earlier this year that the O’Donnells signed a deal to open three units of Playa Bowls in the Atlanta market, one of 14 multi-unit deals signed in the first quarter of 2024 as part of Playa Bowls’ expansion efforts.
A recent job posting indicates that Playa Bowls is seeking a general manager in Atlanta.
Playa Bowls isn’t the only new tenant moving into Powers Ferry Square; as What Now Atlanta recently reported, a J.Crew Factory store is also coming to the retail center. Existing tenants at the Regency Centers-led development include Bartaco, Petco, Road Runner Sports, Jersey Mike’s and more.
