The retailer of hats and caps, at 117 Luckie Street, closed its doors for good Sunday, June 9, a New Era customer service representative told What Now Atlanta over the phone Wednesday.

New Era’s Berlin, Birmingham, Buffalo, Chicago, Los Angeles, London, Miami, New Orleans, New York City, London Stratford, Toronto and Tokyo flagship stores remain open, according to the company’s website.

The now-shuttered Atlanta location has since been removed from the New Era website.

Founded in 1920, New Era Cap Company, Inc., produces more than 35 million caps per year, and is the exclusive manufacturer and marketer of the official on-field cap worn by every Major League Baseball team and their Minor League affiliates.

  1. That was the worse possible location for that type of store. No other real shopping near-by. It would have done way better in Greenbrier than right there.

  2. What was the reason? Sum in sales maybe? Anyway Atlanta is a international city and needs to step it up a notch. I saw a young man wearing a stingy brim and asked him where did he get it?

So I checked out a store called Hats on us and they had a nice selection. I bought myself a hat and I like it better than a baseball cap.
