Stellow Coffee & Floral is expanding into its first brick-and-mortar space after years as a mobile business.

Founder and Atlanta native Clinton Perry got the idea for the concept after coming across a coffee and flower shop when traveling. He also knew he always wanted to start a business inspired by his two grandmothers. The name itself is an homage to both of them: the “Stell” part is a reference to one of their names, and yellow was his late grandmother Betty Rose’s favorite color.

“She had a floral shop and she was a fashion designer,” Perry said. “Her favorite color was yellow, and every time we saw her, we’d give her yellow flowers. It’s what we all know her by.”

Since launching in 2020, Stellow Coffee & Floral has been serving coffee at pop-ups and private events around the metro area and for several clients, including the Atlanta Braves, making coffee and Braves-inspired drinks (like a blue matcha) at Truist Park.

Now, it’s time for the business to expand into a more permanent space.

For the shop at 3466 Chamblee Dunwoody Way, they are going for a calm, welcoming atmosphere designed for connection. A large, U-shaped bar will take center stage in the middle of the space.

“We want to be really thinking about what you see, what you smell, what you feel when you walk in,” Perry said.

Stellow Coffee & Floral is partnering with local roaster Bellwood Coffee for freshly roasted beans. The shop will aim to have something for everyone, from the coffee snobs to the more casual drinker who wants to pick up a fun iced latte. Expect housemade syrups (including floral flavors, like lavender), top-of-the-line equipment from La Marzocco, and a seasonal menu expected to change quarterly.

Perry is also excited about some of the more “top-secret” items.

“I did a lot of traveling for photography and I haven’t even found this item we might have,” he teases.

The shop won’t have a full kitchen, but they have an eye on partnering with other local businesses to bring in bagels, croissants, sourdough bread with avocado, and more.

“We want to bring what the community wants,” Perry said. “We don’t want to offer something that’s not desired by the community. We want to try some things in the beginning. I have so many unbelievably fun ideas.”

One of those ideas is of course, to sell flowers, like premade bouquets that customers can pick up as they’re getting their daily cup of joe.

Luke Cagle, who’s partnering with Perry on the business, is excited to open a place that checks all the boxes of a good coffee shop, like quality coffee coupled with a welcoming atmosphere.

“We’ve been able to grow really well and instill that love of coffee in everything we do and pass it off to everybody we serve,” he said. “It’s been amazing and we’re excited to finally open this new storefront.”

They would love for Stellow Coffee & Floral to be open in May (April showers bring May flowers, after all), but it could be closer to the fall – just in time for autumnal flavors.
