“First we were delayed because of construction and then COVID hit,” David Reed, Owner and Partner of The Establishment told What Now Atlanta. “We were slated to open over a year ago and just put it off when March hit last year.”

He said the plan now is to open in late April or May.

The outdoor bar, called Tight Squeeze at The Establishment, will pay homage to the history of the surrounding area which was once a seedy part of town.

As the name suggests, the bar will be in a small space.

“We want it to be a different environment from The Establishment in terms of what you can get,” he explained.

To be found in The Establishment in Colony Square, Reed said it was built with an open-air bar concept.

He said that The Establishment expanded its patio area and got a tunnel attached for Tight Squeeze.

Though not a wine bar, Reed said the new drinking hole will be one of the first wine cocktail lounges in the country.

American wines will be incorporated into every cocktail on the menu.

“We’ll have wines on draft and the rule is every cocktail on this menu has to have an element of wine,” he added. “There will be Sangrias and we’ll be seeking out a lot of spirits and liquors that fit in this brand.”

One of which will be an organic grape-based vodka from the Sonoma Valley.

“The universe of cocktails that are balanced from wine would amaze you,” Reed said. “People don’t understand how big a universe it is the tighter you look.”
