Mychel ‘Snoop’ Dillard to Open New Concept in Place of Mother Bar + Kitchen

'Escobar Seafood' is a joint concept with rapper 2 Chainz.

Self-described serial entrepreneur Mychel “Snoop” Dillard and Grammy Award-winning rapper 2 Chainz announced via Instagram that they are expanding the Escobar brand, which the two started in 2015. News of the planned restaurant arrives as Pablo Escobar’s estate is suing the duo over alleged trademark infringement.

“Shoutout to my girl @whoissnoop we have been really taking care of business these last couple years and are now ready to announce our newest restaurant location set to open in October,” 2 Chainz wrote in his caption. This will be the business partners’ third Escobar location.

The new restaurant will operate out of the space that previously housed Mother Bar + Kitchen on 447 Edgewood Ave. The popular bar permanently closed in mid-June after operating in the Old Fourth Ward for eight years. A source with first-hand knowledge of the lease confirmed the news Tuesday with What Now Atlanta (WNA).

It remains unclear whether this new location will be another Escobar Restaurant & Tapas or if the pair are taking the brand in a new direction. Though Escobar has always had a seafood-heavy menu, Dillard told Business Insider that she has been planning to open a seafood takeout concept since before the pandemic.

“The pandemic has changed how I look at things and changed some of my goals,” Dillard told Business Insider. “But I still plan on being a rockstar in the restaurant industry. People still want to go out. People still want to go out to eat.”

In the Instagram announcement, Dillard tagged “@EscoSeafood” which is likely an abbreviated version of the new concept’s name, “Escobar Seafood.” The page, aside from quickly racking up several hundred followers since the post, is barren. WNA has reached out to Dillard for comment on the forthcoming restaurant.
