The Drafty Dane is coming to 942 Roswell Street NE, east of Marietta Square. The park will feature a 20,000-square-foot outdoor space for dogs to play off-leash. Meanwhile, pet owners can sip on craft beers, wine, specialty cocktails and non-alcoholic options.
There will be two bars – one downstairs by the off-leash, membership-based park and an on-leash dog-friendly one upstairs. An outdoor patio from the upstairs bar will feature a deck overlooking the dog park. Community events, themed parties and food trucks are also envisioned for the venue.
Husband-and-wife duo Emily and Brennen Matthews are part of the team behind The Drafty Dane. The City of Marietta sold the property to them in 2021 for the creation of the concept.
“This venture is the first of its kind in Cobb County and will be a unique draw for canines and their companions across the region,” the city said at the time.
Operating hours for The Drafty Dane are expected to be 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
The Drafty Dane is part of a growing trend of venues that combine the atmosphere of a dog park with a bar or entertainment venue for humans. Skiptown is expected to open this fall in the Kirkwood neighborhood, and Off Leash is expanding to Decatur in early 2025.
