Daniel Yi, vice president for Ackerman Retail, represented Mochinut Franchisee Chris Kim of Boxete LLC in the lease signing and is assisting the chain in its site selection for several additional locations across the metro area.

Mochinut is targeting a fall 2022 opening at the 304,260 square-foot development, at 2131 Pleasant Hill Road, Ackerman Retail tells What Now Atlanta.

“I’m excited to be assisting Mochinut in its ongoing expansion,” Yi said in a prepared statement. “This lease at Mall Corners provides Mochinut a prominent space in a busy shopping center located in the heart of Gwinnett County, metro Atlanta’s fastest-growing and most diverse county.”

Haley Hartman of Ackerman Retail represented the landlord, Glenwood Development Co.

Mochinut’s first Atlanta-area location is now open in Chattahoochee Food Works at 1235 Chattahoochee Ave., and it is scheduled to open its second Atlanta location at Summit Plaza on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Suwannee this June. The chain specializes in mochi donuts, a Japanese-American fusion donut made with rice flour and notable for its colorful and tasty variations. Mochinut also offers battered hot dogs and a large roster of chilled teas and coffees.

With more than 70 locations across the U.S. from Massachusetts to Washington, Mochinut has big plans for Atlanta, targeting at least seven more openings this year across the metro area.
