Midtown's MidCity Cafe Abruptly Closes

Restaurant shutters unbeknownst to the building's property manager.

MidCity Cafe doesn't appear to be open for business anymore.

The restaurant, at 845 Spring St. NW inside Midtown's MidCity Lofts building, is dark, covered in paper from floor to ceiling, and the door is locked.

Danny Herreras, the property manager for the condo building, learned of the cafe's closure from What Now Atlanta (WNA) in a telephone interview Monday.

"I didn't realize [MidCity Cafe] was closed," Herreras said. "You'll have to contact the restaurant to find out what's going on."

Despite Herreras' sound advice, MidCity Cafe isn't answering its phone calls or its front door.

Are your Fingers crossed that MidCity Cafe will reopen, or would you like something else to take its place? Dish in the comments!

  1. MidCity closed for good on the first weekend of July. They announced it quietly to those who needed to know. It's a shame. It was a good place run by very good people. They just couldn't make the numbers work anymore.

  2. I've lived about a block and a half away from it for years and I think I might have been once. Something about it just wasnt that inviting... I'm not sure what it was exactly, but I would walk by all the time and never even considered going inside to eat. Maybe because it was so small that I always viewed it as more of a lunch counter type place and not a sit down restaurant? I dont know.

  3. I don't know how Simon would know that the numbers were not working if you don't work their or own MCC. The truth is, it was just sold to some high level restauranteurs. Upgrades to come. Expect something big from that spot soon.

  4. Some of the best happy hour deals around. They will be missed. Hopefully something similar takes over...Like the person mentioned above, they let their customers know this was coming.
