The European coffeehouse closed its Brookwood location, at 1845 Peachtree Road, with plans to reopen at the 12th & Midtown development this November.

A building permit application was filed with City of Atlanta early last week for an “interior tenant finish” to the space including new walls, kitchen dining room, bar area, restrooms and even outdoor seating.

The permit request, totaling $800,000 for building-out the 4,328-square-foot space is still routed for review as of Monday. Once the City accepts the application and issues the permit, construction can begin on the new Cafe intermezzo.

The European coffee house will join STK, Asselina Cucina, Ri Ra Irish Pub, RA Sushi, Mi Cocina and Piola at the landmark Midtown Atlanta mixed-use development.

What Now Atlanta has been following this report since we first broke the news in June, 2011. We’ll continue to provide updates as they break.

  1. As of today when I walked by, the Brookwood location is still open and serving customers, at least at lunch it was.

  2. I’ll be surprised if they pull this one off. While desserts are lovely, their service in other locations has been pitiful and getting worse.

  3. I’m a resident of Brookwood. Cafe Intermezzo is still open. I’m sure it will be, until the new location is ready to open. Knowing Bryan Olson, the owner, he won’t want to miss a penny on his store bought desert’s sales.
