On Tuesday, the real estate investment and development company will present its plans to build two towers along the east side of Juniper Street, between 11th and 12th Streets. Current plans call for a 40-story, 320-unit Phase 1 tower followed by a 32-story, 150-unit Phase 2 tower. Ground-floor retail is called for in the project at both relevant Juniper Street intersections.

It is yet unclear what Middle Street Partners’ plans entail for Joe’s on Juniper and Einstein’s, two popular, longstanding restaurants located on the proposed project site. But on Wednesday, Metrotainment Cafes, the parent company of the two restaurants, said in a statement it is selling the two buildings holding the establishments.

“Metrotainment Cafes Restaurant Group has signed a contract for the sale of the Einsteins and Joe’s on Juniper real estate in Midtown,” the company said in a statement through a spokesperson on Thursday. “At present, the intent is to continue serving our guests until early June. Metrotainment Cafes has no further information at this time.”

Also involved in the project, which would include a six-story, 694-space parking podium in the development’s second phase, is Brock Hudgins Architects, next week’s meeting agenda shows.

Middle Street Partners didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on its plans.

  1. I feel awful for the people that are going to lose their jobs, but this is definitely a higher and better use for this lot.

Metrotainment has allowed this property to go into disrepair, while ignoring food and service at both establishments as well.

    1. Agreed…food has been subpar at Einstein’s for years. Unfortunately I line right across the street facing 12th ams Juniper. This will be a nightmare with the noise and construction, not to mention once the building is occupied, there will be more street noise. Good thing we are moving in the next glare years!
