If You’ve Ever Eaten Metrotainment, You’ll Know To Set Low Standards (While Hoping For The Best, Of Course)

Signage finally went up yesterday and furniture was in route at Metrotainment’s newest restaurant, Sugar Shack located in Brookhaven Station at 4046 Peachtree.

Metrotainment originally announced in November of last year that Sugar Shack would open early December 2010, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Better late then never.

According to a posting yesterday on Sugar Shack’s Facebook page (which was inactive since January of this year), a plan to open (ahem, “sweeten Atlanta”) is set for July 28.

Sugar Shack will operate as a cafe of sorts serving coffee and sandwiches and will feature desserts from the Metrotainment Bakery.

We did want to address a basic business fundamental when promoting new businesses. Call us crazy but:

Dear Metrotainment,

You’re a major restaurant brand with many successful (we’re pushing it) Atlanta concepts. We understand, you hit a road bump in producing Sugar Shack but what about a “coming soon page” for your attempt at a website We hope that by the time anyone reads this, you’ll have your ducks in a row. We do wish you the best! Honest.

Yours truly,

what now, atlanta?

  1. I’d have to agree with you on food standards. Can be hit or miss. Also agree with you on their lack of communication. However, the one thing they are most successful on is desserts. I think having a location where you can buy a cake or a piece of a cake is a great idea. Their actual bakery off of Chattahoochee is not a good retail location. This one is. I’d be surprised if Sugar Shack is not successful. I’d also think if it is, additional locations would happen.

  2. Stopped by the other day.
A piece of cheesecake and a
small coffee set me back over
eight bucks. Won’t be open long.
