The health departments of Gwinnett, Newton & Rockdale Counties conducted health inspections across restaurants. Among the Metro Atlanta restaurants inspected, 13 failed the inspections after they scored less than 69 points and received the “U” grade. However, some of the restaurants passed the follow-up inspection, which was conducted 10 days after the first inspection.

Restaurants That Failed the Health Inspection in January 2025
A total of thirteen Metro Atlanta restaurants were deemed to have failed the inspection in January 2025. Some of the restaurants that failed already underwent follow-up inspections and were able to pass them. Other than the one restaurant that faced a temporary suspension of its license, all the others could retain their permit. The remaining restaurants will face the follow-up inspections in the coming days of February.
Sushi Niko Niko Hibachi
Sushi Niko Niko Hibachi, located at 3260 Buford Dr Suite 20 and 30 Buford, failed the Required Additional Routine health inspection on January 31. Several instances of non-compliance with the food code were observed by the inspectors at the restaurant. The restaurant was given a “U” grade after it scored 60 points on the inspection.
The health department will conduct the follow-up inspection at the restaurant within 10 days after the first inspection. The full report for the health inspection at the restaurant is available online.

In the routine health inspection conducted on January 30, Top Crawfish failed after it scored 67 points and was given the “U” grade. Heavy ice accumulation in the walk-in freezer, large containers of kimchi missing date markings, and other issues were observed at the restaurant, leading to its failure. The restaurant is located at 3255 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Rd Suite T Suwanee in Metro Atlanta.
The follow-up inspection at the restaurant will happen on or before February 7. A 3rd consecutive violation of the repeat violation will result in the suspension of the permit for the restaurant. The restaurant’s full health inspection report is available here.
Kang’s Table

Kang’s Table, which serves Korean BBQ in Duluth city, located at 3312 Peachtree Industrial Blvd Suite 5, was given the U grade after it scored 60 points in the health inspection on January 30. The issues observed by the inspectors included bowls of rice stored below the required temperature, food storage boxes without labels, and so on. The person in charge’s lack of managerial control was also mentioned in the report.
As per the report, the follow-up inspection will occur on February 7. If issues are seen to persist at the restaurant and it is not able to secure more than the minimum required points, it may face permit suspension.
Marias Tex-Mex

On January 30, Marias Tex Mex, located in Dacula, failed the health inspection after it scored 49 points and was slapped with a “U” grade. Inspectors charged the restaurant with several violations, including those concerning cross-contamination of food items and storing expired milk, among others.
The restaurant will face the follow-up inspection within 10 days after the previous inspection. If all the issues are not resolved by then, it may face permit suspension. The Duluth City location of the Gourmet Nachos chain Nacho Daddy failed the inspection on January 29. It managed to score only 62 points in the inspection and was given the “U” grade. Several violations concerning hygiene practices, food storage and others were observed at the restaurant. There were also repeat violations that were noted down by the inspectors.

Sweet Octopus, located at 3559 W Lawrenceville St Suite 600 in Duluth, failed the health inspection on January 27. The restaurant was only able to score 63 points and was given an unsatisfactory U grade. Lack of managerial control by the Person in Charge, issues with food storage and other violations of the food codes were observed at the restaurant.

Jiang Nan Asian Restaurant

Located at 2180 Pleasant Hill Rd Suite C in Duluth, Jiang Nan Asian Restaurant failed the routine inspection conducted on January 14. Several issues regarding hygiene practices, food storage, and other violations of the food code were observed by the inspectors at the restaurant.
Another follow-up inspection was conducted on January 24, in which the restaurant scored 90 points and was given an A grade.
An’s Kitchen

An’s Kitchen, located at 5495 Jimmy Carter Blvd Suite A2 in Norcross, failed the health inspection on January 9 and the follow-up inspection on January 17. The restaurant only scored 48 and 40 in the two inspections, respectively. As a result of receiving two consecutive “U” grades, the restaurant’s permit was temporarily suspended. It was reinstated after onsite training was given to the employees.
Yet another follow-up inspection was conducted by the department on January 24, in which the restaurant scored 82 points. Following this, an informal inspection was conducted on January 27 as well.
American Deli

The Dacula location of the counter-serve chain American Deli failed the health inspection on January 9 after having scored only 69 points. The restaurant did score a perfect score in the follow-up inspection, and was given an “A” grade.

The Duluth city restaurant, Chilispot, located at 2180 Pleasant Hill Rd Suite E, was initially given a U grade on January 7 after it scored only 48 points in the health inspection. The restaurant did manage to pass the follow-up inspection conducted on January 17, after it scored 82 points and a “B” grade.
The inspection reports for both had mentioned issues with the hygiene practices of the employees and improper storage of food items.

Located in Dacula at 2463 Hamilton Mill Pkwy Suite 300, the Korean BBQ place, 120 BBQ failed the health inspection on January 4. It was only able to score 54 points and was slapped the “U” grade. The restaurant made a comeback after scoring a perfect 100 in the follow-up inspection and secured an “A” grade.

The Korean restaurant, Seo Ra Beol, located at 3040 Steve Reynolds Blvd in Duluth City, failed the routine health inspection initially on January 3. The restaurant only scored 61 points on the inspection and received an unsatisfactory “U” grade as a result.
Seo Ra Beol underwent the follow-up inspection on January 13 and passed the inspection with 83 points and a “B” grade. It also underwent an informal inspection on January 23. The details of the establishment’s permit and the inspection can be found online.
Jersey Mike’s Sub
The location at Conyers of the Jersey Mike’s Sub, the New Jersey-based sandwich chain, had failed the health inspection on January 3 but later passed the follow-up inspection. Initially, it could only score 68 points and was given the “U” grade.
The follow-up inspection of the establishment was conducted on January 14, which passed with a “B” grade, scoring 82 points. The full reports of the health inspections conducted at the restaurants are available.
Other than the restaurants above, the majority of the restaurants were able to pass the health inspections that were conducted last month. A minority of the restaurants have failed to comply with the food code prescribed by the health departments. Many of the restaurants were even able to score the perfect score. The inspections by the departments keep the restaurants in check, ensuring that they follow the standard practices and regulations.
