WNBA Star Angel McCoughtry To Open Castlebery Hill Ice Cream Shop

'McCoughtry's Ice Cream' would be situated near Kandi Burruss' restaurant, Old Lady Gang, in the Castleberry Market development.

Several Atlanta-based celebrities are giving the restaurant biz a shot in Castleberry Hill.

Atlanta Dream star and two-time Olympic gold medalist Angel McCoughtry is looking to open McCoughtry's Ice Cream in the forthcoming Castleberry Market development, at 185 Peters Street.

McCoughtry's Ice Cream is the second celebrity-backed eatery announced this year for the area. Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss is planning a restaurant, Old Lady Gang, nearby.

Although Angel announced earlier this year she'd open her own ice cream parlor, official plans weren't filed with City of Atlanta until this week.

An estimated $69,210 could be spent building out the 1,000-square-foot space that would act as both a production facility and retail storefront.

Slated to open January 2017, McCoughtry's Ice Cream would offer "healthier" options like vegan and lactose-free using natural ingredients.
