West coast retailer to open first Atlanta location in Madewell-adjacent spot.
Marine Layer, a West Coast retailer whose name is inspired by clouds iconic to California’s coast, this week filed plans to open its first Atlanta location at Ponce City Market in suite C199 to the right of Madewell, in a 1,232 square foot space.
The San Francisco based casual apparel brand sells through its website and retail stores across the country. Quality signature fabrics are central to Marine Layer, which sources and develops 25 original custom fabrics.
Currently, the company has 14 outposts in stylish locales including Abbot Kinney in Venice Beach, West Village in New York, and Bucktown in Chicago.
“… our general strategy for expansion is to open stores in fun towns that we need an excuse to visit,” the company’s website states.

Awesome clothes. Got addicted to their stuff while living in LA a year ago. Great to see they are finally coming to Atlanta.
