NYC-Based Mamoun’s Falafel, a restaurant franchise serving Middle Eastern cuisine since 1971, this week announced a six-unit franchise deal for Georgia, QSR Magazine first reported Wednesday.

Kalki and Parimal Patal, the franchisees who inked the deal for the Georgia region, are scouting locations in Atlanta and Athens, according to Wednesday’s report.

Fransmart, the franchise development partner behind brands like Five Guys Burgers and Fries, is working with Mamoun’s on its franchising growth.

“We’re very excited to bring Mamoun’s to Atlanta, there is no place like it,” the Patals told QSR.

“Mamoun’s serves real Middle Eastern food and that’s something we’re missing in Atlanta right now. We’re looking forward to getting our first location open and introducing Atlanta to this great restaurant.”

The restaurant doesn’t currently have any southern locations with its footprint primarily in the northeast, but spreading southward.

The company’s first outpost opened over 45 years ago in a 200-square-foot Greenwich Village space, “the oldest falafel restaurant in New York City and one of the first Middle Eastern establishments in the United States.”
