Bangarang Brews is in the works now. In addition to beer, the space is expected to have food and a full bar, offering cocktails, mocktails, seltzers, cider and nonalcoholic beer. Owners Adam Fiddler and Josh Roberts are focused on offering something for everyone.
“That variety is really important to people right now,” Fiddler told What Now Atlanta. “The age of craft breweries that just have craft beer is in less demand than it used to be.”
Bangarang Brews is the culmination of a dream the two best friends have had for a long time.
Fiddler and Roberts have been friends since high school. They always talked about what it would be like to have their own venture, even as they pursued their individual routes – Fiddler working as a high school English teacher, Roberts going into the business world.
An Idea Brewing
About 10 years ago, they decided to start brewing beer with their longtime group of friends.
“Everyone chipped in and bought this brewing system,” Fiddler said. “We all got together to brew one time. They all hated it and I loved it. It became a passion project for me.”
But the product wasn’t quite where he wanted it to be. Fiddler sharpened his craft, joining the Chicken City Ale Raisers, a homebrew club in north Georgia that has been around since 1992. He went on to win competitions, and the dream of opening a brewery came into sharper focus – with Flowery Branch the right place to make that happen.
They put out a survey more than a year ago, using a Facebook group for residents of Flowery Branch to seek feedback about bringing a brewery to the town. They immediately saw that the desire for the concept was there; they received hundreds of responses in just 48 hours.
“Right now, anyone in Flowery Branch that wants to go to an event or brewery, like a third space, you have to drive to Gainesville or Buford or Cumming,” Fiddler said. “There’s a few great restaurants in Flowery Branch that we want to work with and partner with, but having that third space to hang out, there’s not really anything like that.”
A Rich History
The team has found the perfect space to make that happen, working with landlord Kevin Hobgood. They were drawn to the location due to its downtown proximity and the deep history of the building.
Built in 1910, the historic grain mill at 5205 Railroad Avenue was most recently occupied by Hamilton Custom Cabinet Design & Remodel, a family-owned cabinet business. News of the plans for the building has sparked memories for people connected to the businesses formerly housed there.
“Family members have reached out us on social media saying, ‘I remember being there as a little kid!'” Fiddler said.
Bangarang Brews is expected to be open for business in late 2025 or early 2026.
“We’re so excited and feel so grateful for the love and support we’ve already gotten,” Fiddler said.
