Neighborhood Ballet is coming to 240 Grant Street SE at the Marchon Apartments. The more than 8,500-square-foot location will feature five state-of-the-art dance studios.

With their lease at 563 Memorial Drive SE coming to a close (about a half mile from the upcoming location), owner Rebecca Harman said it’s the right time to move to a larger space.

“We can remain in the heart of Atlanta, which I really wanted to be able to do,” she told What Now Atlanta. “It’s the next wonderful step for our future.”

Harman grew up as a dancer, really falling in love with the art as she got older. She trained at Ruth Mitchell Dance Theatre, Atlanta Ballet and the Kirov Academy of Ballet, going on to dance professionally at Miami City Ballet, American Repertory Ballet and Ballet Arizona.

In 2017, she opened Neighborhood Ballet, followed by additional studios in Ormewood Park and Northlake Village. The company now serves more than 800 dancers a week. In addition to classes for both children and adults, the studios offer camps and are available to rent for events and birthday parties.

Harman is passionate about the impact that arts can have on a community and the skills that dance can teach young people, including time management and dedication to a craft.

“Our vision and our mission is to be a place for people to dance and celebrate the love of dance,” she said. “No matter what anyone’s intention with their time at Neighborhood Ballet, we hope to be able to support them and what they’re looking for.”

Neighborhood Ballet offers a variety of classes for children, teens and adults, appealing to a variety of ages and skill levels. Classes include ballet, hip-hop, jazz and more.

They are looking forward to continuing to offer Atlantans of all ages a safe and welcoming space for movement and the arts in a larger, more accessible space. The new studio is located on the MARTA line, and it will also feature secure, covered parking.

“It’s been a wonderful space in our community,” Harman said of the studio. “Through ups and downs, Neighborhood Ballet has been a center of community and movement and a big, beautiful space for people that want to move their bodies. We believe this mission is more important than ever. We’re all holding computers in our hands. It’s more important than ever to put that down and move and have community.”

The new studio is expected to open in August 2025.

“We have the most dedicated, talented teachers in Atlanta that truly believe in what they’re doing,” Harman said. “We all believe in the power of arts education and movement.”
