Loaf and Kettle To Be ‘Resurrected’ as The Pantry in Historic Healey Building

Under the slogan of 'Safe & Honest Within,' The Pantry will serve responsibly-sourced food downtown starting late-2018.

Blake Morris of Mint Event and Staffing 911, along with Brady Lowe of Taste Network, and a handful of other partners, are launching The Pantry and Impress Events downtown.

The chef-driven restaurant and event venue will open in space previously home to Loaf & Kettle in the historic Healey Building, at 57 Forsyth St NW.

“When Loaf & Kettle was open, people made a conscious effort to eat healthily,” Lowe in a telephone interview Thursday told What Now Atlanta.

“That has completely disappeared from downtown. We’re bringing back that option with The Pantry and Impress Events.”

Slated to open late-2018 (October pending permitting with the City of Atlanta), The Pantry’s 685-square-foot space will house a chef’s counter and kitchen that will open out into the building’s expansive atrium with bistro seating for 40.

During the day, The Pantry will offer “Safe & Honest Within” (responsibly-sourced food) for breakfast and lunch.

Think timeless, classic sandwiches that you would “travel the country to go and eat” like grass-fed meatball subs, Chicago dogs, line-caught tuna salad, an arrangement of creative toasts, and “sexy” breakfast sandwiches, priced at $9 – $15.

The Pantry will be “sleek and functional with beautiful wood accents, an upscale premium look” and a bar made out of quartz.

“It will all tie together with a refreshing Los Angeles look and brightness during the day.”

At night under candlelight, the space becomes “the ideal spot for a martini, prime rib, and Yorkshire dinner” at the 12-seat chef’s counter with a “stripped-down menu of wine, cocktails, meat and cheese boards, and very simple small plates.”

Nightly specials will be available.

For example, one night could be taco night and the next might be lobster, according to Lowe.

For large events, The Pantry is available for buyouts after 5 p.m. nightly. That’s where Impress Events comes in.

Impress Events will also host its own functions out of the space such as “Santa Claws” in December and potentially into January; a 150-person lobster feed with an “enormous seafood table and shellfish towers.”

  1. Hi Caleb. I see the note that you founded the page. To me that does not imply that you wrote this article. I look for a byline at the top of an article or the words written by or similar.

    1. Hi SR, thank you for the feedback. I see your point. We’re doing an overhaul of the site. I’ll be sure to include making the byline more prominent/clear in the soon-to-launch redesign ~ Caleb
