Lisa and Dave Amundsen are bringing two Le Macaron French Pastries to Alpharetta.
The wife-and-husband team at the end of September and beginning of November will open the French pastry chain in North Point Mall and in Avalon, respectively.
Both locations will carry 20 flavors of Le Macaron’s signature gluten-free macarons along with other French desserts, made in Sarasota, Florida, and shipped in daily as needed.
The North Point Mall outpost, a 250-square-foot stall, will be a full-service operation, also retailing the company’s made-from-scratch gelato, and other French pastries and chocolates.
Le Macaron Avalon will be an “outdoor cart,” the first of its kind for the 50-plus-location chain.
“We’ve tasted a ton of macarons and the ones we carry at Le Macaron are hands down the best,” Lisa Amundsen in a telephone interview Friday told What Now Atlanta.
The couple chose to go the franchise route to mitigate some of the risk involved with opening a new business.
Deciding on the French pâtisserie as their franchise of choice required a good deal of taste-testing and concept searching.
“It’s the right product for the Alpharetta market,” Amundsen said.
The Amundsens could open one more location within their franchise region which is roughly bound by “exit 17 on Georgia 400, all the way down to Peachtree Corners and just west of Crab Apple.”
“Our goal is three locations within three years.”
Le Macaron has only one existing Georgia location in Savannah. An outpost in Midtown closed its doors late-2017 for unknown reasons.
