The brother-owned company this week filed plans with City of Atlanta to convert an industrial warehouse in Old Fourth Ward currently occupied by A&R Ironworks, at 552 Decatur St SE, into a popsicle-making factory.

A&R is relocating to Tucker, GA “in a few weeks” to make way for King of Pops, an employee with the company that designs, fabricates, and installs metal and structural steel projects, told What Now Atlanta in a telephone interview Thursday.

An estimated $425,000 could be spent building out the 11,480-square-foot King of Pops factory.

That’s a lot of popsicles at only $3 a piece.

The Carse brothers got their start in 2010 schlepping King of Pops pushcarts with handmade pops like Chocolate Sea Salt, Raspberry Lime, and Banana Puddin’ around the the city, working all the popular corners.

In Atlanta King of Pops has two retail stores – a “window” in Inman Park and a brick-and-mortar in Ponce City Market (PCM) – in addition to a mini-farmer’s market in PCM.

The popsicle-maker can also be found in Athens, Charleston, Charlotte, Greenville, Nashville, Richmond, and Savannah.
