Katie Barringer, the founder of the now-closed Cover Books, has filed a permit for a 2,146-square-foot space, at 3005 Peachtree Road. The address is for the Modera Buckhead mixed-use. According to the permit, Barringer is planning on converting one of the retail space’s storefronts and interior into Lucian Wine Bar and Bookstore.

Barringer is well experienced with intersecting books with culture under one roof, founding Cover Books in 2016. She condensed her passion for art—graduating from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn—and food—having worked in the restaurant and wine industry for several years—into the Inman Park bookstore, which closed in 2018.

“I don’t think that bookstores should be centered exclusively on the books,” Barringer said of Cover Books in a 2016 interview with South x Southeast photo magazine. “I think that limits their appeal. They should be about the people and culture that are connected to the books.”

Still extremely early in the development of this future project, Barringer declined to comment when reached by What Now Atlanta (WNA) Friday. An Open Records Request submitted by WNA to the city’s planning department seeking all of the documents associated with the permit filing is being processed.
