Slated to open late-summer 2018, The Shops Buckhead Atlanta will house the forthcoming Biltong Bar, serving organic, house-cured beef jerky, South African street fare, and a beverage program which includes hand-crafted cocktails, a wine list highlighting a variety of South African blends and more.

Biltong Bar will replace the now-shuttered American Food & Beverage in the luxury mixed-use development.

“We’re looking forward to providing the Biltong Bar experience to the Buckhead neighborhood,” Justin Anthony, owner of True Story Brands, said in a press release.

“Whether you’re looking to grab biltong to go or sit down and enjoy a meal with us, we’ll be offering a variety of options for patrons to enjoy a taste of South Africa.”

The 6,500 square-foot restaurant will be designed by Anthony’s wife Kelly Wolf-Anthony of Wolf Design Group and will feature a 40-seat bar which extends the entirety of the restaurant.

Guests should expect many new menu offerings from the restaurant’s second location, as well as some available at the flagship Ponce City Market outpost including “biltong,” or South African beef jerky.

A variety of flavors of biltong will be available, freshly sliced for immediate enjoyment and sold by the slab to take home.

Menu items include the original biltong flavor offered wet, medium and dry along with garlic and peri-peri chili bites, with meat selections ranging from beef, elk, venison, and buffalo.

Additional “grab-and-go” items will include a series of retail offerings including South African spices, rubs, and sodas.

True Story Brands encompasses several South African inspired restaurant concepts in Atlanta.

In addition to Biltong Bar, the group includes 10 Degrees SouthYebo Beach Haus, and Cape Dutch.

  1. I fear for this place…without the foot traffic of PCM, I can’t see a large crowd saying, “hey, lets go get some beff jerky for date night!” Hope I’m wrong.
