Owner Khalilah Womack has inked a deal with WRS, Inc. to open in Underground Atlanta, at 50 Upper Alabama Street Suite 74 SE.

WRS is currently redeveloping the mixed-use center, including extensive remerchandising efforts.

“While searching for the perfect location I wanted to be sure that I could contribute to the changing landscape of my city,” Womack told What Now Atlanta in an email earlier this week.

“Underground is going through an exciting facelift complete with a state-of-the-art hotel, movie theatre, and affordable and luxury housing. WRS also made a commitment to preserve a block of development for startups and mom and pops. I am proud to be a part of the redevelopment of downtown.”

iScream will serve fully-customized, single servings of made-to-order ice cream, Womack said.

The process starts with a liquid base of milk and cream which is poured on a machine specifically designed to freeze ice cream and then mixed and topped with various ingredients from cookies to fruit.

As the ice cream freezes it is scooped into “rolls” and served to guests.

iScream will also have non-dairy bases, and vegetarian and vegan mix-ins and toppings will also be available.

“Our space will blend the fun and nostalgia of an ice cream shop of the past, with a new and innovative design.”

In addition to its frozen treats, iScream will host “weekly gatherings such as For the Culture Trivia and Bingo Queen.”

Womack is aiming for a mid-September opening.
