The redesign, which includes modifying the hotel’s pedestrian entryway along Peachtree Road, would feature reformatted space for restaurant The Americano, plans show. The ground-level space for the 422-room hotel is currently occupied by Southern Art and Bourbon Bar.
Neither Brookfield Properties, which acquired the hotel last year through an affiliate, nor IHG Hotels & Resorts, which is the parent company for the InterContinental brand, responded to requests for comment on the restaurant space.
Plans call for a new enclosure with more light and warmth, The Americano signage at the entryway, and glass in front of outdoor seating areas to help mitigate noise, among other changes. The project would result in a net total of 266 seats, including 46 bar seats and 70 outdoor dining and hybrid bar dining seats, according to a plan sketch in the presentation.
The architect is shown as tvsdesign.
Brookfield acquired the hotel, which was built in 2004, for about $163 million from Pebblebrook Hotel Trust in March of 2020.
Commercial alteration permit application were filed last month for $400,000 of first-level interior and exterior work on the hotel.
