But getting in through the unmarked door requires a passcode.

Every week on City Winery’s social media, a “name” will be released. This week is Mr. Burgundy. Go to the unmarked door located directly to the left of Binders and tell the door guy you know that person to gain entry to the clandestine back bar.

“The luxe industrial atmosphere extends the speakeasy ambiance with dim lighting, intriguing cocktails, small batch spirits and lively tunes from a record player,” according to the announcement.

“Walls are adorned with vintage, used electrical switches and boards from the old Sears & Roebuck that preceded Ponce City Market.”

Those who buy a bottle of wine can pick out a record to play on a Pro-Ject turntable. Records range from Count Basie and Ella Fitzgerald, to old blues and much more recent City Winery artists, such as Here Come The Mummies and Don McLean.

Cocktails include the Masataka Swizzle (Nikka Taketsuru 12 year old Japanese whiskey, Luxardo Amaretto, lime juice, demerara syrup, aromatic bitters, sprig of mint), El Conquistador (Mezcal Amaras Espadin, Lustau ‘Los Arcos’ Amontillado Sherry, St. George’s Spiced Pear Liqueur, lemon twist), and more.

Full bar includes liquor, beer, and wine and is open from 6pm-midnight, seven nights per week.
