Leonard’s grandfather, Henri Fiscus, opened the first Henri’s Bakery in 1929 at the corner of Peachtree Street and 10th Street.

“We appreciate all of our customers. We love our staff and everyone who has enjoyed our cheese straws, cookies and sandwiches over the years,” Leonard said in the announcement.

“We are ensuring our grandfather’s legacy lives on in the same location.”

Real estate developer Alliance Residential Company plans to keep the bakery open and incorporate it into a mixed-use development at the current site in the future.

The potential mixed-use development is in the early planning stages, and Henri’s would have to temporarily relocate if those plans come to fruition.

Leonard will continue to own and operate Henri’s other location at 6289 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs.
