The construction of the new restaurant is estimated to cost $700,000, according to the plans submitted to the city.

Earlier this month, Electric Hospitality announced on Instagram its intentions to open a new Muchacho location in Atlanta, stating that they had received a “flood of emails and messages” from concerned citizens asking what was going to happen with the building located at the address.

The new Muchacho location will be located in a former Meineke Car auto shop on Hemphill Avenue, and Electric Hospitality has promised that they have “some extra special surprises in store” for their customers.

The company also announced that their popular Burrito Bus, which had been operating out of the muffler shop parking lot, will be going into hibernation for the winter, but will return in 2023.

Construction on the new Muchacho is set to begin in the coming months. Once open, Atlantans can expect a “taco, burrito, coffee and cocktail nirvana.”

Michael Lennox, CEO and founder of Electric Hospitality, in a phone call in November said the Home Park location should open in 2023.

It’s not the only project in the works. The restaurant company also is moving forward with bringing Muchacho to downtown Decatur, a project first announced in 2021. It will occupy a historic house behind Leon’s Full Service.

Lennox also recently launched an events and catering company Electric Events, as Atlanta Business Chronicle first reported. And, he’s leased two new spaces to host events.

One is at the Star Metals project in West Midtown. It’s called the Electric Room at Star Metals.

“It has a pretty large outdoor space and a lot of nice landscaping,” Lennox said.

The other event space will be called Eastside Swim & Social Club and is near East Atlanta Village.
