Crews over the weekend were spotted emptying the restaurant, at 752 North Highland Avenue NE.

All of the furniture and fixtures have been removed.

While the restaurant’s owners were not reachable for comment Monday, managers at several neighboring businesses confirmed the news with What Now Atlanta.

Employees reportedly were notified Sunday morning of the closure at 9 a.m. without warning.

It’s unclear why the restaurant—with a lease through May 2019—abruptly closed its doors and there’s no word on what might open in its place.

The property housing Hand in Hand was sold in 2015.

  1. This is so sad, this corner of Virginia Highlands is getting bleak with a slumlord across the street leading to a poorly maintained area and several closed businesses. Sad sad sad.

  2. The N Highland stretch from Ponce to Intown Hardware is indeed looking down on the heels. There are many empty storefronts and landlords seem unwilling to maintain their properties leading to a downward spiral which benefits neither the property owners, business owners nor neighborhood residents. There may not be much they can do, but the VA/HI Association needs to keep a close eye on the situation!

  3. Good riddance. The service manager Judy was verbally abusive towards most of the serving staff and that’s why there was always a new serving staff every few months. She was also very rude to customers and one of the reasons why the business failed

  4. Those two blocks from Hand n Hand to Atkins Park cannot do anything to stay afloat. Who the hell is landlord to those spaces? Instead of keeping steady rents, they would rather raise rents so that nothing can be maintained there. And what are they are holding out for? You can’t build apartments/house in those locations because…where would you park? The whole thing is stupid and the owner of the property should be called out for this. When the homeless (bless them) are sleeping in front of the buildings, that’s not always the best sign
